Takada Sho is...
I've been thinking about this for some time. Of all of the juniors, of all of the characters at Johnny's jimusho, why Takada Sho? He's not the best singer, he's not funny, he really isn't the best dancer, his charisma comes and goes, he's more of an observer than a doer--what is it about him that I find so charming?
Maybe a list will help.
1. Battery: his smile. That crooked tooth creating his signature smile. His eyes wrinkle up and all you see is teeth and joy. Even if it was just acting, I love how he showed such a dynamic character that made up for the blandness of Yuma's character. I was surprised he was a Johnny's. His look was just so clean cut.
2. The Battery making. Sho really is a good sport. Even though he was so nervous, he went head on into the first day of shooting, not minding that his first scene meant being dumped from head to toe in flour. When he spoke about his feelings about the drama, I could see his earnestness. He had thought hard about how to answer each question appropriately and with his best effort. It showed how grounded he was as a human being, even at just fourteen.
3. He can talk to anyone. From all of the interviews I've read, it seems that Sho is a people person. Although on screen he seems reserved, when in his element off screen, he's just a very easy guy to talk to.
4. His awkwardness. I find it crazy to see young entertainers on screen with no sense of awkwardness. As if they simply skipped that stage. Like Morimoto Shintaro. I find Shintaro adorable too but to me, Sho's awkwardness resonates with me. He's still finding himself, still struggling with what he could improve on and it shows.
5. Hyakushiki. I love how much of a fail he is.
6. Shokura and School Kakumei: he's barely there but he does so many dance numbers, along with Takayoshi Kishi and Masuda Ryo and Ookawa Keigo and Nakada Hiroki, that I can only imagine the hours they pump in to do every routine.
7. His eyes. When they pop out in shock, when they look angry, when they scrunch up from laughing so hard. I can tell he lives life to the fullest, letting the natural reactions come.
8. Because he's Sho. There is no other like him. Although I find it difficult to imagine him debuting in a group with a CD simply because I've never really heard his voice (for a reason, I presume), I'd like to think that he'll walk a similar path as Ikuta Toma. Keijiro Engawa 3, Battery, Hontou ni Atta Kowai Hanashi, Team Batista SP--I feel like that he's getting his feet wet as well as learning much about the filming and acting world.
I'm really grateful to Johnny's for giving Sho a chance to shine as an actor. I can tell he loves it and wants to understand it more deeply. I'm hoping for the day when he can find a wow character.
9. He's just a sweet guy.
10. If his baby pictures are any indication, he'll have beautiful babies.

Round 2
Improved Inocchi sensei
(nods) Sho is a good student.
I laughed when I saw the pro caricature artist draw Sho and Keito. Keito was spot on but Sho....it does look like him but...

Ran-san ja nee yo. Takada Sho picked on by Inocchi-sensei.
I'd like to see a reel of Ran-san moments.
I'd like to shoot the stylist but the article is hilarious. Translation of Takada Sho 高田翔 is loved by Masuda Ryo.

Who is Your Rival in Love?
Q1: Who seems the most popular with women?
Q2: Who is the most romantic?
Q3: Who seems like they'll be the first to get married?
Q4: Who would you dread having as a rival in love?
Q5: Tell us about something memorable happening on Valentines Day!
Q6: Current status?
Masuda Ryo 増田良
Q1: Who seems the most popular with women?
A1: Takada-kun. Kishi-kun also seems to be popular with the ladies so it's a bit vexing. (laughs) They're usually cool and when they burst they show joy with all of their heart. That image gap makes them popular. [trans notes: Agreed! Sho's charm point is that gap!] If I were a girl, including myself and these two other lunkheads, I wouldn't trust any of us. (laughs)
Q2: Who is the most romantic?
A2: I would have to say....me? But that's only if we're talking exclusively about us three evil ones. If it's a date, I would think about a place I'd want to go and plan it. But truthfully, even talking to girls is mentally straining. I get freaked out. (laughs) [trans notes: Massu is adorably awkward too!]
Q3: Who seems like they'll be the first to get married?
A3: Takada-kun. Because he's easy to like, I think that he would be able to quickly find a great person to marry. 2nd would have to be me. I want to be a young father so I want to get married in my twenties at least. Kishi-kun doesn't really seem interested in love. (laughs) [aww....a young daddy. And he seems so supportive of Sho.]
Q4: Who would you dread having as a rival in love?
A4: Without a doubt it's Takada-kun. But fighting and winning isn't exactly how it would happen. Well, if we both liked the same person, Takada-kun and I wouldn't even fight. The winner would be determined in how well we could convey our feelings to the girl. If that's how it turns out, I'll try hard!
Q5: Tell us about something memorable happening on Valentines Day!
A5: When I was in elementary school, even though I really did receive chocolates, I didn't understand the context of it at all! "Yay! I got chocolates!!!" was pretty much all I thought when the girls gave me chocolates. I'd be happy for that moment and then once that was over, that'd be it. But now that I think back on it, what a waste! (laughs)
Q6: Current status?
A6: I was able to take part in the New Year concert and was able to participate in the 60th NHK Kohaku so in the end I was able to make precious memories. Dance lessons were extremely strict but that in itself was a good experience.
Kishi Takayoshi 岸孝良
Q1: Who seems the most popular with women?
A1: Takada. Because he's a master at conversation. He understand how to follow the pace of a conversation and he's just overall, an easy guy to talk to, a mood maker. Moreover, I'm the type to talk about random, pointless things. Run ons. Because his conversations are always lively, he seems like he'd be popular.
Q2: Who is the most romantic?
A2: Massu. More than romantic, he's a fantasy star ka na.. A soft atmosphere,
Q3: Who seems like they'll be the first to get married?
A3: Hmm....me??? It's not that I want to get married soon but the other two seem like they'd advance super super slowly. (laughs) Decisiveness and forcefulness to help a relationship progress--I think that among the three of us that sounds most like me. After me would have to Massu na...
Q4: Who would you dread having as a rival in love?
A4: Takada. He's first class. With me. Besides that, personally, if I were to fight him as a rival, he'd be the type to be positive and not make a move. But Takada is always like that, no matter who he is facing. He'd entrust it to the girl to decide.
Q5: Tell us about something memorable happening on Valentines Day!
A5: The best was during elementary when I got five but...more than that was....(laughs). Before when I would receive chocolates, I would say, "Thank you..." in a ...
Q6: Current status?
A6: When I participated in the Hey! Say! JUMP Concert, while I was on stage, I looked out into the crowd and saw some of the guests with my uchiwa. That people recognize me and that I actually had fans out there...I was so moved! Thank you!
Takada Sho
Q1: Who seems the most popular with women?
A1: I think it'd be unanimous and be Kishi-kun. If we're talking about girls, at first glance he seems like a hard guy to read with a mysterious aura right? And Massu, in comparison seems like he's the best friend till you die type of guy. (laughs)
Q2: Who is the most romantic?
A2: Hopeless romantic Massu is. But without meaning to, he'd be the type of guy to forget his and his girlfriend's anniversary. Which is a pretty scary thing to do so he'd better be careful. (laughs)
Q3: Who seems like they'll be the first to get married?
A3: For me, marriage is something that has to be taken with great consideration so I can't imagine it happening anytime soon. First, in love, I think that what's important are making mistakes and learning from them. But anyways, the one who would probably get married first is Kishi-kun ka naa. Because Massu is the "friend" type, he wouldn't be able to get married anytime soon right? (laughs)
Q4: Who would you dread having as a rival in love?
A4: I don't even have to think about this. It's Kishi-kun! My reason? Process of elimination. If my rival happened to be Massu, I'd think, "There's no way in hell that Massu can make her happy!" I wouldn't be able to withdraw with that kind of thought.
Q5: Tell us about something memorable happening on Valentines Day!
A5: My best record was during elementary in my sixth year. I received 9 chocolates! But as the years went by it got less and less... Since Valentine's Day is on a Sunday this year and school ends a bit late on Friday, the school should just start Monday morning earlier! Joking joking! (laughs)
Q6: Current status?
A6: At a skiing training camp, I was able to network and make friends but it was pretty scary. I could feel myself panicking when I got to the ski slope and I thought to myself, "I knew it. Dramas suit me better." [a/n: as in, he's more comfortable in that setting] If I could get a cheerful, refreshing role this year then I'd be ecstatic na...

Arashi's Wish: School Kakumei flop for Takada Sho
I don't know what the hell the choreographer was thinking but this is just ridiculous.
And I mean ridiculous, even for a Johnny's setup.
I wrote about this in my previous post but watching it again just dumbfounded me. What the hell did I just see????
First Massu taps Yamada Ryosuke's shoulder and then boom.

First Massu taps Yamada Ryosuke's shoulder and then boom.
It starts off normal enough.
And then it progresses.
I just about died at this part.
And then almost fell out of my chair here.
And just didn't know what to think here.
Look at Ryosuke's face.
And Sho's.
Oh my god. Let me cover my face.
What the hell is wrong with that choreographer!!!???? I just don't understand.
It's wrong. Sho deserves better. Takada Sho cannot become infamous for this scene.

School Kakumei: Sho as a backdancer
I noticed it before but for some reason, I never thought much of School Kakumei.
Until I saw a performance with Sho.
Masuda Ryo and Kishi Takayoshi seem to be more regular though. And before, Ookawa Keigo and Nakada Hiroki were there too but were replaced??? It worries me. Sho sometimes isn't there either too but probably because of Hyakushiki filming? Not sure.
Okay, so anyways, I watching a performance when suddenly, out of nowhere, Sho crawls through Yamada Ryosuke's legs!!!~!!j89gtiuerdsf What the hell just happened????
I burst out laughing.
I'll screen cap it one day.

I was so happy to see his face clearly on shokura. Even if he was just a point boy. He really does need more meat on him.

高田翔
I think he really is a people person. Watching Hyakushiki, it's hard to tell and he admits it too. That he's a lot more talkative than what viewers can see on Hyakushiki.
But I think that it's his level of confidence. He wants to be funny but truly believes that he isn't a naturally funny guy.
I find that he's an interesting character who does contemplate things deeply but sometimes thinks so hard that he forgets what he's thinking about.
Sho works hard. So I too will strive to do so. Maa...he's still young. I really can't believe that he's the same age as my little brother. Embarrassing.

You know what I've been wondering???
Where's Keigo?
Did he just disappear off of the face of the earth?
It feels odd, just the three of them. Nakada Hiroki isn't in this picture too.

Takada Sho in Hontou ni Kowai Hanashi : very scary stories
This was after the Battery run.
I didn't take it seriously and didn't honestly believe that the story would scare me.
I watched it for Sho but...shudders. Never again. For those of you interested, someone uploaded it at youtube.
The premise of the story is that Sho takes a girl on a date to a haunted building. He acts as the brave one and they get to the roof, all happy.
But when they try to leave, the building won't let them.
Dun dun dun.
shivers
I just had to be home alone that night.
I can't stand scary stories. Why did you make me do it Sho????!!!
For a moment I felt betrayed but...it was my own fault.

"What is this???"
"Hm...."
"Eh..."

"Ehh???!!!~~"

He's hilarious.
